We got our first Pembroke Welsh Corgi from our former landlord who was abusing him. We named him Fatz Domino and he gave us companionship and love. That is when we fell in love with the breed. Then came Raz Ma Taz II, Chloe Ode to Gertrude (in recognition of my husband's late grandmother Gertrude Reich), and Winnie Honey Pooh.
One day, we decided after watching a 4-H dog show that we wanted to try showing my Pembroke male Taz. We started off in obedience with several disappoinments. We were getting discouraged when a obedience judge would not let us go last instead of first because of a judging conflict. If it were not for Christy Collins, a professional handler, I would have given up. She encouraged me and took me under her wing. She then introduced us to the Cardigan Welsh Corgi crowd. They all welcomed us with open arms and showed us into their loving family of show traveling Cardigan Welsh Corgis. Thanks to Tartanwyn Cardigan Corgis bred by Laura Calkin's we got our first show quality Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Tartanwyn's Princess Fiona. |
